2月25日，投诉人W女士与西安利之星4S店(4S dealership)签订了分期付款购买全新进口奔驰CLS300汽车(buy an importedMercedes-Benz CLS300 vehicle through installments)购车合同。3月27日提车后即发现车辆发动机存在漏油问题(the engine was foundto have an oil leak)。W女士与4S店协商退换车辆未果，于是向当地市场监管局投诉(file complaints withlocal market regulatory authorities)。与此同时，W女士坐在一辆红色奔驰车引擎盖上哭诉4S店的视频在网上热传(a video showing thewoman sitting on top of the engine cover of a red Mercedes and berating thedealership went viral online)，引发舆论广泛关注。
4月13日市场监管部门责成4S店尽快落实退车退款事宜。4S店表示愿意全额退款(agree to refund herin full)。4月16日晚，W女士和4S店达成和解协议。协议内容包括：更换同款的奔驰新车(a new CLS300 vehiclewill be exchanged)，但依旧是以贷款的方式购买;对该车主此前支付的1万余元"金融服务费"全额退款(the financial servicefee of more than 10,000 yuan will be refunded to the customer);赠送其十年"一对一"的VIP服务(provide free"one-on-one"VIP services for 10 years to the customer)等五点内容。和解协议达成后，北京奔驰销售服务有限公司发表声明，再次向客户诚挚道歉。
经过一场舆论风波，W女士终于成功维权。央视在报道这一事件时评论道：本次事件不能就以个案(individual case)的解决而结束，必须通过这一事件推动整个行业进行实质性变革(promote thefundamental improvement of the whole industry)。在消费已成为拉动经济增长的主动力(the primary driving force)之际，让消费者更加放心、更加满意地消费才能促进经济高质量发展(high-qualitydevelopment)。
