背景信息

 

“精神崩溃”一词最早出现在1901后的一篇医学论文上。当时的医生乔治·米勒·贝尔德认为，精神力和体力一样是有上限，会被耗竭，而让所有事物都加速向前的技术和媒体带来了“精神崩溃”的大流行。

 

在20世纪30年代的经济危机中，这一观点被身处困厄中的美国大众广泛接受，承认自己“精神崩溃”被认为是正常的行为，不代表虚弱，只是需要暂时离开高压的社会环境，休息一段时间恢复精神力。但近些年来，基于精神类处方药的心理学势头压过了社会学，“向内求诸已”成了新的“政治正确”。

 

心理学的发展无疑值得称颂，但重新为“精神崩溃”正名已势不容缓（别把什么都当成心理疾病）。来场经济可行、文化上可接受的精神崩溃总比将来那些更糟糕的事要好得多。
