President Xi Jinping called on China and Africa to defeat the novel coronavirus with solidarity and cooperation. The two sides should work together to build a China-Africa community of health for all and take their comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership to a greater height. Xi made the remarks in Beijing when chairing the Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19 on June 17.

中非团结抗疫特别峰会由中方和非盟轮值主席国南非、中非合作论坛共同主席国塞内加尔共同倡议，以视频方式举行。南非总统拉马福萨、塞内加尔总统萨勒和埃及总统塞西、刚果(金)总统齐塞克迪、阿尔及利亚总统特本、加蓬总统邦戈、肯尼亚总统肯雅塔、马里总统凯塔、尼日尔总统伊素福、尼日利亚总统布哈里、卢旺达总统卡加梅、津巴布韦总统姆南加古瓦、埃塞俄比亚总理阿比以及非盟委员会主席法基出席。联合国秘书长古特雷斯、世界卫生组织总干事谭德塞作为特邀嘉宾与会。会议发表《中非团结抗疫特别峰会联合声明》，向国际社会发出中非团结合作的时代强音。

当前，疫情仍在全球蔓延，中国和非洲都面临抗疫情、稳经济、保民生的艰巨任务。我们要坚持人民至上、生命至上，统筹资源，团结合作，尽最大努力保护人民生命安全和身体健康，最大限度降低疫情负面影响。

COVID-19 is still affecting many parts of the world. Both China and Africa face the formidable task of combating the virus while stabilizing the economy and protecting people’s livelihoods. We must always put our people and their lives front and center. We must mobilize necessary resources, stick together in collaboration, and do whatever it takes to protect people’s lives and health and minimize the fallout of COVID-19.
