中央民族工作会议8月27日至28日在北京召开。中共中央总书记、国家主席、中央军委主席习近平出席会议并发表重要讲话强调，以铸牢中华民族共同体意识为主线，坚定不移走中国特色解决民族问题的正确道路，推动新时代党的民族工作高质量发展。

President Xi Jinping has stressed consolidating the sense of community for the Chinese nation and unswervingly taking the correct approaches with Chinese characteristics to handling ethnic affairs when addressing the central conference on ethnic affairs. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, called for promoting high-quality development of the Party's work on ethnic affairs in the new era. The conference was held in Beijing on Aug 27 and 28.

中华民族共同体意识是国家统一之基、民族团结之本、精神力量之魂。我国是统一的多民族国家，在漫漫历史长河中形成了多元一体的中华民族。我们辽阔的疆域是各民族共同开拓的，我们悠久的历史是各民族共同书写的，我们灿烂的文化是各民族共同创造的，我们伟大的精神是各民族共同培育的。我国各族人民同呼吸、共命运、心连心的奋斗历程是中华民族强大凝聚力和非凡创造力的重要源泉。

铸牢中华民族共同体意识，就是要引导各族人民牢固树立休戚与共、荣辱与共、生死与共、命运与共的共同体理念。

党的十八大以来，以习近平同志为核心的党中央高度重视民族工作，着眼培育中华民族共同体意识，创新推进民族团结进步创建，取得显著成绩。各民族交往交流交融广泛拓展，中华民族共同体意识不断增强，平等团结互助和谐的社会主义民族关系不断巩固和发展。历史和现实充分表明，中华民族是一个命运共同体，一荣俱荣、一损俱损;民族团结是我国各族人民的生命线，各民族共同团结进步、共同繁荣发展是中华民族的生命所在、力量所在、希望所在。

【重要讲话】

只有铸牢中华民族共同体意识，构建起维护国家统一和民族团结的坚固思想长城，各民族共同维护好国家安全和社会稳定，才能有效抵御各种极端、分裂思想的渗透颠覆，才能不断实现各族人民对美好生活的向往，才能实现好、维护好、发展好各民族根本利益。

Only by fostering a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, building a solid ideological wall to uphold national and ethnic unity, and having all ethnic groups jointly safeguard national security and social stability, can the infiltration and subversion of extremist and separatist thoughts be resisted, the aspiration of the people of all ethnic groups for a better life be fulfilled, and their fundamental interests be realized, protected and advanced.
